Meet the team – Chris
- How did you get into IT?
My father was the IT Manager for the Australian Stock Exchange and from about 9 I had a computer at home. I remember it was an IBM with a small 8 inch screen and I learnt the DOS operating system back to front. I knew then that I wanted to be involved in some way. My first part time job at 15 was managing AS/400 mainframes. I decided to go into Sales from 18 as I enjoyed speaking to people and talking about IT and how it can help them.
- What do you like and dislike most about your job?
I have been in IT since I was 18 (28yrs) and love what I do. I have seen so many changes over this time and always look forward to the next IT wave coming through. Not much I dislike accept when clients pay their bills late after you have done so much work to help them and their business.
- What do you like to do outside of work?
I am a keen Car enthusiast and collector. I love taking the cars to the drag strip, Car Shows or burnout competitions and have lots of fun. Cooking is my second passion, especially around smoking and BBQ. I usually have dinner parties once a month and trying new ways to cook and present foods to my friends.
- If you weren’t in your current job, what would you be doing?
I would be a race car driver or have my own restaurant/bar
- What do you think will change the most in the way that we work with IT in the future?
”Augmented Reality”. Augmented Reality turns the environment around you into a digital interface by placing virtual objects in the real world, in real-time. E.g., you can point your smartphone at a building to display its history or estimated value. This technology as it involves will completely change the way we live our lives.
